NIH Public Access Requirement

As of April 7, 2008, the National Institutes of Health (NIH) Public Access Policy mandates deposit of all final, peer-reviewed manuscripts resulting from full or partial NIH-funding into PubMed Central, the NIH digital archive of free full-text health sciences journal articles, not later than 12 months after date of publication.

To facilitate compliance with this policy, the Eskind Biomedical Library offers this search tool to check specific journal compliance.

IMPORTANT: Through a comprehensive effort, the Eskind Biomedical Library (EBL) will attempt to keep journal records updated regarding publisher compliance with the NIH Policy. EBL advises Vanderbilt University researchers to use caution and consult publishers' websites or contact publishers directly to verify compliance in all instances. Changes may occur and cases may exist in which the same publisher applies different policies for each of its journal titles.
